NextUp.com Announces Strategic Partnership with Cepstral®

Leading provider of text-to-speech software to consumers and businesses to market Cepstral® voices

CLEMMONS, NC — NextUp.com, provider of innovative Text-to-Speech (TTS) software for consumers, educators and business customers, today announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with Cepstral, LLC, a privately held company that provides speech technologies and services that enhance the delivery of information. Under the terms of the partnership, NextUp will offer Cepstral's high quality synthetic voices to consumers, educators and businesses as part of its TextAloud MP3 PC software.

"We've found great demand globally for natural sounding Text-to-Speech voices that can be downloaded and have a small installation footprint relative to other speech engines" said NextUp CEO Ken White. "Cepstral voices give our users the ability to bring their computers to life by adding distinct personalities to our Text-to-Speech applications. Additionally, these voices are extremely fast when creating audio files, one of the most used features in our software."

As part of the partnership with Cepstral, NextUp's users may choose among six high quality Cepstral English voices offered including a variety of male and female voices, a child's voice, and a Scottish accent to power their applications. With an installation size of only 20MB per voice, Cepstral voices are available for immediate download from NextUp's web site upon purchase of TextAloud MP3.

TextAloud MP3 is available for Windows 98, NT, 2000 and XP. It enables a user's PC to read text aloud in a natural, human-sounding voice. Users can listen to Web pages, e-mail, reports, articles and practically any other type of text. Additionally, users can store their daily reading materials as MP3 audio files for portable MP3 players and Pocket PCs so they can listen while exercising, commuting or traveling. TextAloud MP3 may be purchased securely from http://www.nextup.com. Evaluation copies are available on request.

Cepstral, based in Pittsburgh, PA, designs, builds and customizes natural sounding synthetic voices and specializes in high-quality small footprint voices.

"Cepstral was founded three and a half years ago, on the premise that in addition to high quality, customers would demand the opportunity to choose a voice type and style that fits their needs," said Cepstral's President and CEO Jaime A. Smith. "We're thrilled to be partnering with a company like NextUp who shares this vision to bring quality voices to consumers and businesses across the globe."
