[2 - NewsAloud now supports RSS Feeds]
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
RSS Feeds are a popular way for web sites to send out headlines and descriptions
of new articles. To learn more about RSS check out
http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2002/12/18/dive-into-xml.html
Basically RSS are XML files that include several stories, each made up of a
headline, a link, and a description of the story. Thousands of sites now use
these and update them often, and they give you a unique new way to keep up with
the latest news or what's new at your favorite sites.
Within the latest version of NewsAloud, you can click Options->RSS Feeds, and
add the URLs to your favorite RSS feeds. NewsAloud will retrieve any new
headlines and descriptions from the feeds you enter, and can speak or create
audio files from the stories.
To get started using RSS Feeds within NewsAloud, download the latest NewsAloud
from
http://nextup.com/NewsAloud/download.html
A simple place to get started is grab the URLs to XML feeds at sites like
http://news.yahoo.com/rss
Simply right-click the XML image and choose Copy Shortcut, then paste that URL
into NewsAloud's RSS Feeds window, and on news retrievals, NewsAloud will grab
any new stories.
Here are a few directories where you can search for RSS feeds, finding major
news sources, local papers, and personal weblogs:

[4 - Attention Writers Who Use TextAloud]
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
We hear from a lot of writers who love TextAloud as a proofreading tool and just
a great way to listen to their words being read without needing to ask someone.
If that's you please help us out. Writers Digest is looking for submissions on
your favorite software and we'll greatly appreciate it if you can let them know
how you use TextAloud and why they should include it in an article on writing
software for an upcoming issue of Writer's Digest. Please send your submission
to
writersdigest@fwpubs.com.
Include your name, city and state, and they may choose your submission for an
upcoming issue of Writer's Digest. Thanks!

[5 - Beta Tests of New Voices]
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
We are currently helping a voice maker test out new voices in German, UK
English, American Spanish, and Canadian French. If you are a native speaker in
any of these, are not a novice computer user, and are interested in sampling
these voices and providing feedback to the engineers working on them, please
email us at
voices@nextup.com
