Just a small speaker icon like in extension

will be fine for chrome. While speaking, make the icon change to stop. Only play and stop, so it won't take much space. I hate toolbars that take lot of space.

Firefox plugin selected text
I use firefox plugin most of the time. WIth version 3, i selected a text, read it by clicking "Speak" button. After TextAloud read the text, the selected text get unselected. If i need to read the text again, i have to select again. Also for reading large pages, i will miss how far i read ...
