Pronunciation issue

Post by Materiewelle »

Hello.
I also have (several) pronunciation issues.
As I learn (and already suspected) there are different rules for the pronunciation of a word at the end of the sentence.
That is exactly my issue.
For example the word nanoparticle is pronounced correctly in the middle of the sentence but not (missing the "a") at the end. This is rather annoying.
How can I change that?

Thanks.

The IPA pronunciations for nanoparticle are the following

/ˈnæn.əʊˌpɑː.tɪ.kᵊl/ (U.K. English)

/ˈnæn.oʊˌpɑr.tɪ.kᵊl/ (U.S. English)

see http://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictio ... olicy=true

You will need to substitute the above IPA pronunciation into your voice's phoneme editor (substituting the symbols used by your voice's phoneme editor for the IPA phonemes above).

Thanks for your response!

I needed to write it this way:
& n ae n - ow - p aa r - t ih - k & ax l z &
But I guess that is what you mean by exchanging the symbols.

Now the voice Crystal16 is pronouncing this incorrectly (not speaking the "a") even in the phenome test. The Anna voice pronounces this correctly.

If your are using TextAloud phoneme facility, the correct phoneme for nanoparticle would be the following:

n ae n 1 ow - p aa r 2 t ih - k ax l

However, you indicated that your voice is AT&T NV Chrystal, so a better solution is to use AT&T's English phoneme editor located at the following (if you bought your voice from Nextup.com-TextAloud):

C:\Program Files (x86)\ATTNaturalVoices\TTS1.4\Desktop\data\en_us\en_us.dict (Windows 8 [Eight])

C:\Program Files\ATTNaturalVoices\TTS1.4\Desktop\data\en_us\en_us.dict (Windows XP)

After opening en_us.dict enter the following:

Word: nanoparticle

Phonemes: n ae n 1 ow 0 p aa r 2 t ih 0 k ax l 0

Then save the new entry.

You will have exit and restart TextAloud for the new entry in the AT&T phoneme dictionary to take effect.
