Audio quality is poor when using voice change tags

Post by Jim Bretti »

The most common cause for this problem is that you're mixing voices that use different sample rates. Basically, the voice assigned to the article determines the sample rate used for speaking text.

For example, if an AT&T voice is assigned to the article, the article will be spoken at 16khz. If a voice change tag for Acapela or Scansoft is found, the voice will switch, but the 22khz audio generated by these voices will be resampled to 16hkz. The resulting audio quality is poor.

We plan to fix this in a future version of TextAloud, currently the only workaround we know of is to avoid mixing sample rates like this.
