Phoneme pronunciations with Acapela Voices

Post by Jim Bretti »

Acapela does not currently support phoneme based pronunciation corrections from Sapi5. The voices just skip over any words where a phoneme based pronunciation correction is used. This means that Acapela voices will ignore any phoneme based pronunciation corrections created using TextAloud's Pronunciation Dictionary Maintenance.

Instead, current versions of Acapela voices include a utility that generates user lexicons to use with Acapela voices.

The utility is called PronunciationEditor.exe, and is located in your acapela install directory. The default install directory on 64 bit versions of windows is C:\Program Files (x86)\NextUp-Acapela Multimedia. If you're running 32 bit windows the default install directory is C:\Program Files\NextUp-Acapela Multimedia.

There is documentation on using the PronunciationEditor utility in the doc folder, also located in the install directory. The doc folder contains a pronunciation editor manual, along with documents for each Acapela language you have installed. These language documents include information on phonemes you can use with the language.
