Help with PDF files

Post by Scruples98 »

I am trying to have textaloud read a pdf file. To accomplish this I have to
1. Save the file to a folder on my hard drive.
2. Open the file using Omni page 16.
3. OCR the file to get a text version.
4. Save the text to a folder.
5. import the text file to textaloud.
6. Have txt aloud create mp3 files.
7. Open the save play list of these mp3 files in my itunes player.
8. listen to the audio.
Is there not a simpler way of doing this? I tried to copy text to textaloud using ctrl c and having textaloud watch the clipboard. Sometimes I'd get the text in the pdf document, other times I would not get any text at all.
What I would like to do is to have steps 2 to 8 automated and working in the background. Thus all I have to do is to save the pdf file to a folder that omnipage watches for pdf files and textaloud watches for txt files. Ominpage generates the text file and textaloud automatically process it to audio. Any suggestions?

Did you try opening the PDF directly with textaloud? It can open PDFs. If the quality of the converted text isn't good, then you have to use some other PDF to text program.
