Word add on

Could someone tell me how to completely dissociate the Text Aloud add on from Word please?

I have been having terrible problems, unable to save work (and losing much). It seems Text Aloud incompatibility with the 64 bit version of Word may be the trouble, but I can't remove it to find out.

What I have tried:
In Word options, unchecking the com addons box for TA.
Following the advice to the letter on the MS troubleshooting page, I removed the registry key for the TA addon. However, the addon just came back. There doesn't seem to be any way of doing it from Text Aloud, and it is not listed in the help file.

I need to remove the add on completely, to test whether it is causing the problem.

Thanks for the reply. It was nothing to do with Text Aloud, though.
