Word Toolbar and the Installer. (complete with solution)

Post by Jessica2 »

Calling all Windows 10 Fell users who are using the Anti-Virus programme called Defender.

If TextAloud set-up throws this popup at you.

---------------------------
Setup
---------------------------
IPersistFile::Save failed; code 0x80070002.

The system cannot find the file specified.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Then I have a work around, and btw this works for all installers that work on the roaming folders, and others, Defender don’t like it up em’ Capt: Mainwaring.
** DON’T PANIC! **

This is what you do:-

Path -> Settings -> Update and Security -> Windows Defender, and now click on [ Open Windows Defender Security Center ].

Click on [ Virus and threat protection ]. Even thought it says everything’s fine.
When in that window click on [ Virus and threat protection settings ].
{ Real-time protection } should be the first option down, here you slide the blue switch to the ( off ) position.

Windows will pop-up saying it’s a bad idea, ignore it and click yes.

Run your TextAloud Installer, and if it’s done right: then the set-up program will ask you if you want to reboot.

Not yet!
- Find { Real-time protection } again.
Remember it should be the first option down, here you slide the blue switch to the ( on ) position this time.
- And yet again.
Windows will pop-up saying are you sure, say yes.

Now you can reboot: once your machine comes back to life, then all of the ToolBars (especially for Word) will be there ready to use.

This little trick is required for most of the software Installers out there that work on the strapped down Windows platform using Defender.

Thanks for reading, Jessica: Praise be the ORI.
I write, therefore: you are.
