Format preservation when importing text from PDF or other formats

Post by andrewpinney »

For documents where we cannot listen directly within the native document, like a PDF, that requires importing the text into TextAloud, yet we need to follow the original document against the text being read, it would be immensely helpful if as much of the original text formatting and spacing could be maintained within the TextAloud UI. This would allow much easier visual tracking between the original PDF document and the TextAloud window, which I have side-by-side during such listening. The value of been able to do this is when you are reading papers that have graphs, tables and maps that of course cannot be imported into TextAloud yet are important for understanding the context of the narrative.

Can I suggest this is a consideration for a feature update. I have a text-to-speech engine on my android phone,@Voice, which does a better job of maintaining text formatting when importing, and makes the reading experience easier.
