.NET Install Errors

Post by Jim Bretti »

TextAloud 4 requires version 4 of the .NET Framework to be installed on your system. .NET is a programming framework created by Microsoft. TextAloud 4 includes components built on the .NET framework, so the framework has to be installed in order for TextAloud to run.

Normally the TextAloud 4 installer will detect if the framework is missing, and install it automatically as part of the TextAloud install. Occasionally we run into cases where checking the installation fails, the .NET install fails, or possibly .NET is uninstalled for some reason after TextAloud is installed.

The .NET Framework needs to be installed in order to solve these kinds of errors.

The easiest way to install the .NET framework is to use Windows Update. In Windows 10, click Settings, and in the Settings panel click Update and Security. In earlier versions of Windows run Windows Update on your system and check for updates. If there are updates available, check to see if version 4.0 or later of the .NET Framework is included in the list of available updates. Select the update to be installed if it is not already selected. (It may appear as an optional update.)

You can also install the latest version of the .NET framework using the link appropriate for your version of Windows:

Windows 7 and later
Download an installer for .NET Framwork 4.8 Runtime at
https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/d ... work/net48

You can use either the offline or web installer, just be sure to install the runtime and not the developer pack.
