Windows 8.1 Preview ships with a new version of Internet Explorer, IE11. There is a security option in IE11, called Enhanced Protected Mode, enabled by default. With the Enhanced Protected Mode option enabled, Internet Explorer will not load our TextAloud toolbar.

This is going to take some time to figure out, we'll release an updated version of the toolbar when we make it compatible with this security mode.

In the meantime, the only way to use the TextAloud toolbar with IE11 is to turn this security feature off. To turn off Enhanced Protected Mode in IE, click the "Tools" button (the Gear button at the top right of the IE window). In the menu displayed, click "Internet Options", and click the "Advanced" tab. Scroll through the settings to the "Security" section, and locate the checkbox labeled "Enable Enhanced Protected Mode". Uncheck the option, and restart Internet Explorer.

There is more information on Enhanced Protected Mode and add-on compatibility at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2864914
