Speeding up start-up

Is there a way to make TextAloud start more quickly?

The splash screen appears instantly, but then sits there for about 3 minutes before the main app appears.

It was always slow, but after upgrading from Windows 7 to 10 start-up became very slow indeed.

3 minutes to start sounds really long. Please exit and restart TextAloud, and as soon as you get to the TextAloud main window, click Help -> Support -> Report A Problem. Just reference this issue in the problem report text. The information in the problem report should give me an idea of where to start looking.

In case anyone else runs into this issue, the slow startup problem was related to the number of articles loaded in TextAloud. We need to add some sort of warning recommending that you delete / archive some articles. Performance is ok for a few hundred articles, but startup slows down when the count is in the thousands.
