Keyboard shortcuts for the Firefox toolbar buttons

Post by afsana »

Dear NextUP

Your TextAloud product is great and I use it a lot for reading with
Firefox. Could you please consider the following for the Firefox
toolbar:

- Please add keyboard shortcuts for the Speak, Pause/Resume and Stop
buttons in the Firefox toolbar.

- Please consider making the keyboard shortcuts configurable such
that the users could change these keyboard shortcuts to their
preference.

Thanks a lot for your wonderful product.

I'd also really appreciate having the capability of using hotkeys when using Firefox, I find that clicking the buttons on the toolbar can become a pretty redundant task when reading from the internet because when reading Internet content you continually have to pick smaller chunks of text in order to avoid listening to advertisement and div-tag meta-data. I've tried attaching a secondary 'keypress' EventListener in the textaloud3.js file in the TextAloud plugins folder, but I can't seem to get it working. My JavaScript skills are not proficient, as of yet. I've searched quit a bit on the internet for info related to integrated hotkeys to Firefox plugins but I seem to consistently come up short with this type of plugin integration. If anyone could offer a hand or any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
