Emile found that his previous visual reading approaches had actually led to poor retention, while listening to the same content via spoken voice using TextAloud, he was even able to practice his magic tricks and yet still actually improve his absorption and retention of the information. "Perhaps because it's easier and more fun -- you really seem to be more engaged into the information, and more able to fall into a sort of flow," he comments. "My favorite aspect of TextAloud is the fact that you can export the spoken text to audio files and take them with you," he adds. "I also really like the fact that I can achieve spoken text simply by highlighting what I want to hear." Emile also uses the program's keyboard short cuts to skip text, or to go forward or back in the text, as needed. Emile has now become a believer in multitasking, "especially for anyone doing something creative or artistic," he comments. "It turns out that two things can truly be done together in a perfectly combinable way. Now I can learn and enjoy so many more things at the same time, and my work is not as time-consuming as it was before." Ultimately, by turning to Text to Speech as a multitasking solution, Emile has been able to combine work and leisure in a unique new way that's downright… magical.
