NextUp Technologies Extends Relationship with Wizzard Software

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 2005--Wizzard Software (OTCBB:WIZD) announced today that NextUp has extended their relationship with Wizzard Software and have selected AT&T Natural Voices(R) Desktop edition for use in one of their assistive software applications, NextUp Talker(TM). Operating out of Clemmons, North Carolina, NextUp, a division of NextUp Technologies, LLC, supplies award-winning Text-to-Speech software to consumers, businesses, educators, and those with visual impairment or learning disabilities.

"In supporting our other Text-to-Speech products, we hear from so many who lose their voices to ALS, cancer, strokes and other conditions," said Rick Ellis, President of NextUp.com. "Previous technology products available to meet these needs were too often prohibitively expensive for many, so we saw an opportunity to bring them a high-quality but affordable speech solution."

NextUp Talker is a Text To Speech application specifically designed for people who have temporarily or permanently lost their voice. Consumers are able to choose AT&T Natural Voices to easily add a human-sounding speech engine that enables the user to easily communicate with others despite vocal impairments using a Windows PC or Tablet PC. Those affected by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrigs Disease), Cancer, Stroke, aphasia, or any other disability or affliction causing loss of speech, are able to regain an important part of life by using NextUp Talker to help regain the ability to "talk".

NextUp Talker features convenient shortcuts to quickly enter commonly used sentences and phrases to enable a smooth conversation flow. Users can even enter their own individual phrases and special abbreviations as well, with the ability to adapt to the user's own style and speed and options to speak each word, each sentence, or each paragraph as typed or on demand.

NextUp also offers their customers other innovative applications with the option of using AT&T Natural Voices. TextAloud(TM) speaks any text such as web pages, documents, emails, PDF documents and e-books aloud or to audio file. NewsAloud(TM) is a talking personal "news agent" that finds the stories users want, and then reads them aloud or to portable MP3 files. WeatherAloud(TM) is a weather application that lets users select and listen to personalized weather forecasts, while StocksAloud(TM) reads stock updates and related news headlines aloud for specific companies of interest.

"Wizzard Software is proud to have established such a long-standing and strong relationship with NextUp," said Danielle Lewis, Marketing Director for Wizzard Software. "AT&T Natural Voices enables companies to provide their end-users with the highest quality speech synthesis at an amazingly reasonable price point. We believe Text to Speech to be an invaluable tool within the accessibility market."

Assistive devices such as NextUp Talker can be a valuable asset to the millions of people affected by loss of speech. According to the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at John Hopkins, Lou Gehrig's Disease affects as many as 30,000 in the United States, with 5,000 new cases diagnosed each year. Aphasia, a total or partial loss of the ability to use words, currently affects about 1 million persons in the United States, with 80,000 more cases diagnosed every year, according to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders.
